For Alison's sculpture class she was required to make a sculpture out of something other than the usual sculpture materials (clay, metal, bronze etc.). She asked me what I thought she should use, and being in my birdwatching mode, I suggested bread. I said we could go to the day old bakery, buy the cheapest white bread, wad it up into dough balls and she could sculpt away! After she had fulfilled her class requirement, we could feed it to the ducks and it would be a good practical use for her assignment.
Of course the entire family got into the act and came up with lots of suggestions as to what to actually sculpt. The class is human figure sculpture, so it had to be human. Finally, she decided on a head.
The first attempt wasn't very successful. But, Kramer loved it and carried it around the yard a bit before eating it.
The second attempt turned out pretty good. She turned it into a "chef" with a hat and everything.
The teacher wasn't real impressed, but then they never are. He seemed to be confused about the hat. The class was impressed with the words coming out of his mouth. The actual writing to be precise. They couldn't believe Alison could write like that. (These are all 'Art' students right?)
Anyway, yesterday (Sunday), we all headed out to a pond where we know there are ducks and tried to get the ducks to come eat the head. They had been feasting on bread and popcorn from other Sunday visitors all day and weren't very hungry.
Finally, everyone settled on sending the head into the water and the fish enjoyed a Bread Head Feast!
Crazy Art Classes!
